Hulu says it will start selling its own shows and movies on digital platforms in 2019
By the end of 2019, Hulu will offer its own digital offerings.
In a new blog post, Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins said the new service will become available to consumers in 2018 and that it will offer an original offering, like the original Hulu original series.
The service will also become available on streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus and YouTube.
Hopkins also announced that Hulu’s new content and movies will be available to users in select countries at the beginning of 2019.
“Today, we’re announcing that our new Hulu Plus offering will be launching in 2018, with the ability to add it to any existing Hulu subscription service.
In the years ahead, we will continue to build our portfolio of Hulu original content and will offer a selection of exclusive content for our existing subscribers,” Hopkins wrote.
“We have a lot of work ahead of us to build the best possible digital experience for our customers.”
Hulu’s original programming lineup will include shows like House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black, along with a growing roster of movies, including the upcoming Jurassic World and The Avengers sequels.
The company is also offering more original content, including shows like The L Word, The Mindy Project and Veep, among others.
“The Hulu experience is a premium experience, built for consumers who are ready to go on vacation, want to catch up on a favorite TV show, or just want to see something new on the big screen,” Hopkins said in a blog post announcing the news.
“Now, you can find Hulu’s programming, movies and TV shows in new ways, as we roll out new content over the next few years.”
